Wait on the Lord: Be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart…”    Psalm 27:14

There are many things in life that can make us afraid. For some of us, it may be a lightning storm – with lots of wind and rain and loud thunder and bright flashes of light. That can frighten many kids, even grown-ups!  Fear makes us want to run away and hide to get away from the thing that frightens us. For children, it usually means running to their mom or dad—people who they know love them and care about their safety. Other things can also make us afraid. We can be afraid of the dark or afraid of bugs or tight places, high places or even people who could do us harm. Yes, there are many things that make us afraid.

Fear can be present all our lives, from our childhood to our adult years and it can control our lives –if we let it. The wonderful thing for the child of God is that they have Someone they know who loves and cares for them in a special way. His name is the Lord Jesus and we can always go to Him in prayer when we are afraid. When we realize that He is always there and that He watches over us, we can gain the courage to help us through a frightening situation. He can give us peace in our hearts and the courage we need as we wait for His help. What are you afraid of today? Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He will strengthen your heart!
